> ## Documentation Index > Fetch the complete documentation index at: https://docs.macrovisonomics.com/llms.txt > Use this file to discover all available pages before exploring further. # Macro Screener > Filter and rank countries by economic indicators using a multi-condition builder — then analyze results with MACROVISONOMICS AI # Macro Screener The Macro Screener lets you filter the world's economies by any combination of economic conditions, rank the results, and immediately analyze them with the MACROVISONOMICS AI engine. ## Accessing the Screener Navigate to **Screener** in the sidebar under Explore. ## Overview The Macro Screener works like a stock screener, but for countries. Instead of filtering stocks by P/E ratio or market cap, you filter countries by GDP growth, inflation, debt levels, and other macroeconomic metrics. The result is a ranked list of countries that meet all your conditions — which you can then send to the AI for structured analysis. ## Building a Screen ### Adding Conditions Click **Add Condition** to add a filter row. Each row consists of: 1. **Indicator** — the economic metric to filter by (select from dropdown) 2. **Operator** — the comparison logic (`>`, `<`, `=`, `between`) 3. **Value** — the threshold (or range for `between`) You can add as many conditions as needed. Results must satisfy **all** conditions simultaneously (logical AND). ### Available Indicators | Indicator | Description | Unit | Typical Range | | ------------------- | ------------------------------------------ | ----- | ------------- | | GDP Growth | Annual real GDP growth rate | % | -5% to +10% | | Inflation | Consumer price inflation (CPI) | % | 0% to 15%+ | | Unemployment | Unemployment rate | % | 2% to 25%+ | | Debt/GDP | Central government debt as % of GDP | % | 10% to 250%+ | | Current Account | Current account balance as % of GDP | % | -15% to +25% | | FX Change YoY | Currency change vs USD year-over-year | % | -30% to +30% | | Credit Rating Score | Numeric sovereign credit score (100 = AAA) | Score | 0 to 100 | ### Example Screens **Low inflation, high growth (growth markets):** ``` GDP Growth > 3 Inflation < 4 Unemployment < 8 ``` **Stressed sovereigns (fiscal risk watch):** ``` Debt/GDP > 80 Current Account < -3 Credit Rating Score < 60 ``` **BRICS-style emerging growth:** ``` GDP Growth > 4 Unemployment < 8 Inflation between 2 and 8 ``` **Stable advanced economies:** ``` GDP Growth between 1 and 4 Inflation between 0 and 3 Debt/GDP < 80 Credit Rating Score > 80 ``` **Currency pressure candidates:** ``` Current Account < -5 FX Change YoY < -10 Inflation > 6 ``` ### Filtering by Group Use the **Group / Universe** dropdown to restrict results to a specific subset of countries: | Group | Description | | ------------------ | ---------------------------------------------- | | All Countries | Full universe of 217+ countries | | G7 | USA, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan | | G20 | World's 20 largest economies | | BRICS | Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa | | ASEAN | 10 Southeast Asian countries | | European Union | 27 EU member states | | Sub-Saharan Africa | 48 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa | | Latin America | Latin American and Caribbean countries | | Emerging Markets | IMF-classified emerging market economies | | Advanced Economies | IMF-classified advanced economies | ### Filtering by Region Use the **Region** dropdown to filter by geographic region (e.g., Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East & North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa). ## Reading Results ### Results Table The results table shows all countries that match your conditions, sorted by rank score. Columns include: | Column | Description | | ------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ | | **Country** | Country name and ISO code | | **Region** | Geographic region | | **Income Group** | World Bank income classification (High, Upper Middle, Lower Middle, Low) | | **Per-indicator columns** | One column per screener indicator showing the latest available value | | **Score** | Composite match quality score | Click any column header to sort the table by that indicator. Click again to reverse the sort order. ### Interpreting the Score The score is a composite of how strongly each country satisfies your conditions. A score of 100 means the country perfectly meets all criteria; lower scores indicate partial matches when the `between` operator is used or data is slightly outside thresholds. ### Color Coding Values in the results table are color-coded for quick scanning: * **Green** — favorable values (e.g., high growth, low inflation) * **Red** — concerning values (e.g., high debt, negative growth) * **Neutral** — values within normal ranges ## Analyzing Results ### AI Briefing Click **Analyze Results** to send the screen output to the MACROVISONOMICS AI agent. The agent will produce a structured briefing covering: * **What the screen reveals** — overall pattern in current global macro conditions * **Top-ranking countries** — what they have in common and why they score highly * **Risks and vulnerabilities** — potential warning signs across the screened universe * **Regional patterns** — geographic or income-group clustering in results * **Suggested follow-on analyses** — links to Sovereign Debt Monitor, Country Compare, or Trade Analysis for deeper investigation The AI briefing is especially powerful when combined with group filtering. For example, screen G20 countries for high debt and low growth, then analyze — the AI will identify which large economies face the most fiscal pressure. ### Save to My Space Click **Save Screen** to store your conditions and results in My Space. Saved screens can be re-run at any time to see how the results have changed as new data arrives. Saved screens store: * All filter conditions * The group/universe and region filters * The date when the screen was created * A snapshot of the results at save time ## Use Cases ### For Macro Strategists * Identify the next wave of fast-growing economies * Screen for currency stress candidates before FX moves * Track which advanced economies are diverging in their growth-inflation mix ### For Sovereign Credit Analysts * Monitor countries approaching debt sustainability thresholds * Identify candidates for rating downgrades (high debt + deficit + negative current account) * Compare fiscal positions across peer groups ### For Policy Researchers * Study the relationship between trade openness and growth * Identify countries that have successfully reduced inflation without crushing growth * Find economies with strong external positions (high current account, stable currency) ### For Investors * Screen for countries with favorable macro conditions for investment * Identify markets with currency tailwinds (positive FX change, improving current account) * Monitor sovereign credit risk across EM bond holdings ## Data Sources All screener indicators use data from the World Bank and integrated financial sources, updated annually as new country submissions are received.
