Search & Data

Try these tips:
  • Use different keywords (e.g., “unemployment” instead of “jobless rate”)
  • Check spelling
  • Use more general terms first, then refine
  • Browse the Indicators Guide for available data
If you still can’t find what you need, the indicator may not be available in our current data sources.
Missing data usually means:
  • The country didn’t report that indicator for those years
  • Data collection began after the selected start date
  • The country didn’t exist in its current form during that period
This is a limitation of the underlying data sources, not MACROVISONOMICS.
MACROVISONOMICS offers three search modes:
  • Neural: The default mode. AI understands meaning and finds semantically similar indicators, even if you use different words.
  • Keyword: Exact text matching for specific indicator codes or names. Best when you know exactly what you’re looking for.
  • Research: Deep multi-step analysis mode where the AI agent comprehensively researches your question across multiple sources.
You can switch between modes using the toggle below the search bar.
Currently, search works best in English. We recommend using English economic terms for the most accurate results.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

Try these steps:
  1. Refresh the page
  2. Clear your browser cache
  3. Try a different browser
  4. Check your internet connection
  5. Reduce the number of countries or date range
Large datasets with many countries over long time periods may take longer to load.
If your search returns nothing:
  • Check for typos
  • Try simpler, more common terms
  • Use English economic terminology
  • Break complex queries into simpler parts
Example: Instead of “annual percentage change in gross domestic product”, try “GDP growth”
Saving issues may occur if:
  • You’re not logged in
  • Your subscription has expired
  • There’s a temporary server issue
Try logging out and back in. If the problem persists, contact support.
If data seems wrong:
  1. Check the indicator definition in our Glossary
  2. Verify the unit of measurement (millions, billions, percentages)
  3. Confirm you’re looking at the correct year
  4. Cross-reference with the original data source (World Bank, FRED, IMF, etc.)
If you believe there’s a genuine error, please contact us.
Some chart types are optimized for desktop viewing. For the best mobile experience:
  • Use simpler chart types (Line, Bar)
  • Select fewer countries
  • Use landscape orientation for complex charts
If exports fail:
  1. Try a different format (PNG instead of SVG, or vice versa)
  2. Reduce the chart complexity
  3. Disable browser pop-up blockers
  4. Try a different browser

Every API response includes rate limit headers (X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining, X-RateLimit-Reset) so you can track your usage.
The MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server allows AI agents like Claude and ChatGPT to access MACROVISONOMICS data directly. It exposes 7 tools for searching indicators, fetching data, generating insights, and more. See the Developer API docs for setup instructions.
Interactive API documentation (Swagger UI) is available at macrovisonomics.com/api-docs. You can browse endpoints, try API calls in your browser, and download the OpenAPI specification for code generation.
Yes. The REST API provides JSON responses for all endpoints, so you can fetch economic data programmatically and build custom dashboards, reports, or integrations with your own tools.
