Macro Screener
The Macro Screener lets you filter the world’s economies by any combination of economic conditions, rank the results, and immediately analyze them with the MACROVISONOMICS AI engine.

Navigate to Screener in the sidebar under Explore.
Overview
The Macro Screener works like a stock screener, but for countries. Instead of filtering stocks by P/E ratio or market cap, you filter countries by GDP growth, inflation, debt levels, and other macroeconomic metrics. The result is a ranked list of countries that meet all your conditions — which you can then send to the AI for structured analysis.
Building a Screen
Adding Conditions
Click Add Condition to add a filter row. Each row consists of:
- Indicator — the economic metric to filter by (select from dropdown)
- Operator — the comparison logic (
>, <, =, between)
- Value — the threshold (or range for
between)
You can add as many conditions as needed. Results must satisfy all conditions simultaneously (logical AND).

Filtering by Group
Use the Group / Universe dropdown to restrict results to a specific subset of countries:

Filtering by Region
Use the Region dropdown to filter by geographic region (e.g., Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East & North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa).
Reading Results
Results Table
The results table shows all countries that match your conditions, sorted by rank score. Columns include:

Interpreting the Score
The score is a composite of how strongly each country satisfies your conditions. A score of 100 means the country perfectly meets all criteria; lower scores indicate partial matches when the between operator is used or data is slightly outside thresholds.
Color Coding
Values in the results table are color-coded for quick scanning:
- Green — favorable values (e.g., high growth, low inflation)
- Red — concerning values (e.g., high debt, negative growth)
- Neutral — values within normal ranges
Analyzing Results
AI Briefing
Click Analyze Results to send the screen output to the MACROVISONOMICS AI agent. The agent will produce a structured briefing covering:
- What the screen reveals — overall pattern in current global macro conditions
- Top-ranking countries — what they have in common and why they score highly
- Risks and vulnerabilities — potential warning signs across the screened universe
- Regional patterns — geographic or income-group clustering in results
- Suggested follow-on analyses — links to Sovereign Debt Monitor, Country Compare, or Trade Analysis for deeper investigation
The AI briefing is especially powerful when combined with group filtering. For example, screen G20 countries for high debt and low growth, then analyze — the AI will identify which large economies face the most fiscal pressure.
Save to My Space
Click Save Screen to store your conditions and results in My Space. Saved screens can be re-run at any time to see how the results have changed as new data arrives.
Saved screens store:
- All filter conditions
- The group/universe and region filters
- The date when the screen was created
- A snapshot of the results at save time

Data Sources
All screener indicators use data from the World Bank and integrated financial sources, updated annually as new country submissions are received. Credit ratings are updated as agencies publish changes.
